More than hot air.

A healthy body and mind provide the necessary energy and joie de vivre to draw upon as we seek to achieve our full potential. Against the background of the considerable changes which are ongoing within the health sector nowadays, more and more people are prepared to assume active responsibility for maintaining their health and for providing for their own needs.
Every person is different, and individual constitutions and perceptions of heat vary accordingly. KLAFS hot air rooms have been designed with such diverse requirements in mind, and we would like to take this opportunity to explain their benefits in more detail.

BRINE CABIN

Brine cabins provide a popular and healthy bathing experience in a pleasant warm air bath environment. Many people find that the low bathing temperatures of between 35 and 38°C and the low level of relative humidity of 15% to be ideal for relaxation purposes.

Anyone who has tried inhaling salt water whilst suffering from a cold will be familiar with the positive influence salt can exert in combination with water and heat. This is a combination which simply does you good and acts as an immense relief. Salt keeps the mucosa moist and your skin soft.
Those who know the importance of skin care have long since been aware of the benefits a Klafs brine cabin is able to deliver in terms of promoting good blood circulation and cleansing and revitalising the skin.

HAMAM.

The HAMAM has its origins in the Ottoman Empire and is a place of tranquillity and conscious relaxation which offers a chance to forget the stresses and strains of everyday life. The Hamam cleanses the body and mind, switches attention away from mundane trains of thought, loosens the joints and muscles and provides mental and spiritual recuperation.

A HAMAM bath is divided into two distinct areas. These are the sauna and cleansing area
(60 - 90 minutes) and the relaxation zone
(60 - 90 minutes). Bathers begin by donning a Hamam robe (Pestemal) and entering the Sogukluk. This is a room at a temperature of around 35°C where they gently warm up by pouring temperate water over themselves from specially provided bowls.

They then proceed to the Harara (main sauna), where the prevailing temperature is 45°C and they begin to work up a sweat. In the soaping room, known as the Lif, the bathing attendant (Tellak) offers guests an authentic soap lather massage on the "hot stone" (a polished piece of granite previously made of marble).
Such a treatment clears the mind wonderfully, and the rejuvenated bathers enjoy the soft and velvety feel of their slightly reddened skin.

CALDARIUM.

The intensive warmth in the Caldarium penetrates the body very deeply, stimulating the circulation and regenerating the body’s natural energies. This powerful effect has often been regarded as having curative benefits. Tense
muscles relax, the skin becomes smoother, stress melts away, joint pain is eased. These are the perfect conditions for anyone wishing to avoid extremes or looking for a delightful form of deep relaxation in an attractive setting.

The stone walls, floors, seats and reclining areas are heated to a pleasant temperature. From 30 to 40° C for pure relaxation, or from 50 to 60° C to generate sweat and cleanse the pores. Relative humidity is low at 20% and the air temperature is lower than the wall temperature. This means that bathers can stay in the caldarium for a relatively long period up from 45 to 60 minutes.

TEPIDARIUM.

The TEPIDARIUM, a charming variation on the CALDARIUM, was a major part of Roman bathing culture and was instrumental in determining architectural planning in the magnificent spas of the era. What makes the TEPIDARIUM so special is the even and beneficial radiant heat given off by its stone walls and floor and by its seating and bench areas.

The TEPIDARIUM is a radiant heat bath with temperatures ranging from 37 to 39°C. Its ergonomically formed individual benches make it an ideal warm-up or regeneration room. The walls and benches are heated to pleasant temperatures depending on the bathers' requirements. Humidity is at approximately 20%. Air temperature may be up to 15°C lower than the temperatures of the walls and seating areas.

LACONIUM.

A LACOMIUM is a dry sauna and works in the same way as the TEPIDARIUM in generating even radiant heat from its stone walls and floors and from the seats and benches. Temperatures are, however, significantly higher than in the TEPIDARIUM at around 60°. This enables the body to work up a slow yet intensive sweat.

A LACONIUM sauna is a good alternative for bathers for whom the temperatures in a conventional sauna, which may reach 90°C or more, are simply too high.
Humidity is around 15-20 %.
