The steam bath is already an „old story“. Already the Greeks and the Romans knew it and for the Romans it was the „Sudatorium“ and a fix part of their bath culture. With the Romans it arrived at the East where it is still known as Turkish vapor bath. But also in the North of Russia having a steam bath is popular since centuries. The steam bath is not only popular, but also healthy. It’s a pleasant sweating bath , similar to the sauna, but with a completely different climate. Not so hot and much more humid.
Regarding its effect it’s comparable with the sauna. For a lot of people the low temperatures of about 43-46 °C and the relative air humidity of 100 % are ideal for relaxing. But no only for this: the hot steam is particularly healthy when having respiratory diseases and rheumatic disorders. The effect of the steam can be enforced by addition of scents and flavours made out of medicinal herbs, flowers, fruits and spices. Furthermore an exotic atmosphere can be created like this. And who sets value on a nice skin already appreciates for a long time the humid warmth of the steam bath. It enhances the circulation, cleans and freshens the skin.
You have two hours time, some sauna towels and soap and you can start. You should not go hungry or with a full stomach into the sauna . Clean your body and dry yourself well. In case you have cold feet you should take a warm feet bath before going into the steam bath. A single steam bath attendance should not go longer than 10 – 15 , maximum 20 minutes. There you can sit or lie relaxed. In case you don’t feel well during the bath, then it is better if you leave immediately the cabin. Afterwards we recommend to sit down some 2 to 3 minutes.
Then go out of the cabin and take a breathe of fresh air. Cool down yourself with the tube or the splash sprinkler. Trained steam bathers also cool down in the plunge basin . Afterwards you should only sit down or slowly walk. If necessary, cool down once again. A warm feet bath before the next sauna bath enhances the circulation. After a thorough cooling down the second and – like you want – third bath follows. To equalize the ullage you should drink after the sauna bath mineral water or fruit juices. This is healthy and refreshing.
