Of all human senses vision is the most developed one. 80 % of sense impression by humans happens through the eye. Thus it is clear to understand, that light and colours have a big influence to our mood and well-being.
Today light and colours are often therapeutically used in combination with other measurements good for well-being of body and soul: e. g. sound- and meditation rooms or mild forms of sauna bathing like the Sanarium.
In 1672 the English physicist, Mr. Isaac Newton, could already prove that the “white” daylight spectrum consists of red, orange, yellow, green and blue colours. Each of us react in a different way to different colours.
For most colours there is a culturally fixed association scheme on which described by the majority of humans. Blue is classified as cool and refreshing. Pink is combined with innocent love, red stands for passion. This classification however gives no information about the sensation of humans whether positive or negative, pleasant or unpleasant. This depends on each single nature.
The following overall view presents the psychological and physiological effects of different colours:
Violet: increases mental processes, is antiseptic and has a cleaning and calming effect. Moreover relieves depressions and migraine. Due to its “flushing” effect it improves or avoids cellulite and lymphatic congestions. Furthermore it reduces the optics of scars.
Blue: has a cooling, calming and analgesic effect as well as an anti-inflammatory effect and reduces oedema, lowers blood pressure and fever. The colour blue regulates an over-production of sebaceous glands with oily skin and increases the effects of face masks.
Indigo: provides a calming effect, harmonises breathing, alleviates swellings and stops secretion.
Turquoise: has a stimulating, cleaning, alleviating and cooling effect. It relieves skin problems, headaches and tenseness.
Green: strengthens the eyes, has positive stress management, removes blockades, swellings and congestions. It also has an antiseptic effect and supports the balance of body and soul. It is used for the general pre-treatment of the skin with acne, coupe rose or neurodermatitis and psoriasis. Green calms down irritated skin.
Yellow: stimulates the lymph system and influences the hormone level. Good effects of relieving slight stretch marks or decreasing elasticity of the skin.
Gold: strengthens the autonomic nervous system, has an anti-depressing effect and stimulates the stomach, the intestine and the kidney.
Orange: stimulates the stomach, thyroid gland and the lungs. It has an antispasmodic effect, activates the soul, gives joie de vivre and optimism. It is relieves stretch marks and the decrease the elasticity of the skin.
Pink: alleviates aggressions and tenseness, has an harmonising effect
Red: supports the liver function, stimulates the sensory nervous system. It relieves acne, sunburns, eczema and allergies. Red light opens the pores and is an ideal preparation of the skin for a beauty mask.
Magenta: has a stimulating effect, especially for winter depressions
In summary it may be said that colours have a positive effect to body and soul and also in the therapeutic psychology. But the colours also became important as a new experience in sauna and Sanarium. By integrating additional accessories e. g. coloured light, “Klangverwehungen” (sound waves) and the addition of aromatic essences in the sauna cabin especially the operators of saunas in the professional range can meet the steadily increasing requirements of their guests.
During the sauna the coloured light stimulation complements and enforces practically the proven healthy advantages of sauna bathing as e. g. the strengthening of the heart, the cardiovascular system and supports the removal of slag in the body. Since 10 years, Klafs as world market leader in sauna, steam bath and wellness installations is offering accessories for heat experience cabins which have wide appeal to all senses in the whole wellness sector.
The novelty BELLAVEDA is an absolutely new kind of coloured light stimulation in the sauna. The light panel flush build in the wall has a fluent transition from one colour to the other. Unlike the coloured strip lighting in the ceiling the BELLAVEDAS magic light can be enjoyed while seated due to the head-on alignment in front of the benches. This is an aspect especially in the professional range. This kind of coloured light is even more intense in combination with calming sound waves and aromatic scents during the sauna bathing and of course with a twinkling, shimmering starry sky!
Another star piece is the Klafs Aquaviva. The green coloured handmade irregularly-formed glass combines the emotional effect of sound and light. The sauna bather is surrounded by an acoustic environment combining birdsong, rustling leaves and rushing water, enhanced by light modulations moving wave-like through the irregularly-formed glass, suggesting water in motion. By means of all visual and aural stimuli as sound, scent, colour and light finally the “spiritual” sauna is created as an all-embracing unique wellness experience.
