The spa area of the five-star luxury “g Hotel” in Galway, Ireland, has been awarded the European Hotel Design Prize for being the “Best Hotel Design for Spa, Health and Leisure Interiors”.
The selection committee at the prestigious London hotel design event “Sleep06”, organised by Sleepers Magazine, awarded the prize to the g Hotel for its exceptionally well-conceived, holistic oasis of calm.
Douglas Wallace architects planned the spa area in a Japanese style and had the area fitted out by Klafs of Germany, the internationally leading manufacturer of saunas and spas. Hotel guests visiting the sauna area can look forward to an original rock sauna, experience rain showers with tropical mist effect and an ice fountain for a tingling way to cool down after the spa experience.
The g Hotel thus joins the ranks of numerous other sophisticated and renowned hotels that also rely on Klafs recognised expertise as an exclusive fitter of saunas and spas. Current reference projects include the Tschuggen Bergoase by Mario Botta in Arosa (Switzerland), the Dolder Grand Hotel (Zurich), the Adlon (Berlin), the Krallerhof in Leogang (Austria), the Hotel Arts (Barcelona) or the five-star Shangri-La Hotel in Shanghai (China).
