In mid-December, after 18 months of renovation, the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz reopened its doors as a Boutique Hotel with 60 suites. The establishment welcomed its guests with an exclusive interior in time for the 2007/2008 winter sports season. Because all the rooms including the prestigious lobby and the generous 1,200 m² spa area bear the flamboyant signature of Carlo Rampazzi, the Tessin interior designer. He has transformed the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz into a piece of jewellery rich in colours and eccentric forms. It was acclaimed “Leading Small Hotel of the World” by the “Leading Hotels of the World” hotel association even before it reopened. The smallest five-star hotel in St. Moritz now offers its guests the highest level of privacy and intimacy – especially in the Carlton Spa. Awaiting the visitor there are an exclusive facility and a modern range of colours that is unique in the elegant St. Moritz holiday destination. Something new is now blended in harmoniously with the existing structure in the 1,200 m² Carlton Spa which has been carefully integrated into the historic vaulting: today wave-shaped, flowing mosaic walls in varied blue and green shades create the balanced ambience necessary to peace and relaxation.
“My fittings are like cashmere pullovers. People should fit them perfectly.” True to Carlo Rampazzi’s maxim – a mixture of effusiveness and cosiness – the sauna and spa specialist KLAFS, together with the designer, created the Carlton Spa. Proven project experience and the highest product quality have permitted the Carlton Spa project to be implemented in a construction period as short as six months. KLAFS provided a comprehensive service to the client and the architect with the entire construction of the spa including work planning, project management and implementation. Having one point of contact responsible and the rapid implementation of decisions in the construction phase permitted Corinne Denzler, the Group Director of the Tschuggen Hotel Group, to concentrate entirely on the operational aspects of reopening.
Now six different treatment rooms, individual wellness experiences with the Sanospa massage tub, a large number of saunas and steam baths and, as a highlight, a private spa suite invite you to relax. And from the only heated outdoor pool in the town, guests enjoy a view over snow-covered St. Moritz and the surrounding mountain scenery in pleasantly heated water.
So the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz is further proof of KLAFS’ outstanding position as a spa fitter that many exclusive and outstanding establishments in the international luxury hotel business already rely on. These include for example the Hotel Adlon (Berlin, Germany), the Kempinski Grand Hotel Heiligendamm (Heiligendamm, Germany), the Tschuggen Grand Hotel (Arosa, Switzerland), the Hotel Arts in Barcelona (Spain) and the 5-star hotel The Dolder Grand (Zurich, Switzerland).
