You don’t need to be an expert to know that wood is the factor which determines the quality of a sauna. Choosing the best material for every application does, however, require something in the way of experience. The knotless, robust wood of the Canadian hemlock fir is the most suitable for saunas and the SANARIUM®. It does not warp, even under the most extreme of conditions, and gives off even heat. It is extremely durable, as well as being resin free and knotless.
Aspen wood is particularly well suited to infrared heating cabins. As far as fitting the benches are concerned, soft woods which do not split or resinate and do not conduct much heat are most appropriate.
Ensuring continuous improvement and sustainable forest management is therefore very important to us. To ensure this, we use only certified timber from conviction that meet the environmental, social and economic standards.
KLAFS sauna wood and saunas are provided with various environmental labels and signs.
