Effective Training without strain: Sanarium® and Sauna increase health and well-being

Effective training without stress or strain

Faster - higher - further: Today, we live in a continuous demand on our performance. Non-stop activities, tension and stress can have extremely negative results for us - regular bathing in sauna and sanarium support your health and create general well-being: Why this is the case depends to a large extent on the vegetative nervous system.

The vegetative nervous system. The vegetative nervous system Prof. Dr. med. Karl-Ludwig Resch, vice-president of the German Society for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, explains: "The vegetative nervous system, with the help of neurotransmitter which are mainly distributed through the blood vessels, ensures a balanced communication between organs and body tissue. Two opponents  – the sympathic and parasympathic nervous system – control the game: The sympathic nervous system takes over in case of activity, stress and fear, the parasympathic controls the relaxation and digestion." In stressful daily life, we are in danger of being controlled by the sympathic for most of the time, while the paraysmpathic is in decline. The result: The vegetative nervous system is disturbed and can only react to stressful and infectious challenges. Even a number of basic functions such as blood pressure and metabolism are out of balance.

Sauna in summerEffective training with sauna bathingAt the same time, the nervous system can be surprisingly easily trained like a body: This works with sense stimulation, where as multiple sense are most ideal. "Many stimulations are registered by different senses at the same time, especially temperature stimulation. This makes the sauna the ideal and natural training facility for body, mind and soul - without lifting a finger.", says Prof. Resch. Take blood pressure as an example: Non-stop activities, in particular stress, causes the blood vessels to contract. If this situation continues, the heart and circulation get accustomed to this, which, in turn, leads to a faulty adjustment of sensors and high blood pressure. If the arteries are not trained, they loose the ability to expand. The intensive heat stimulation of the sauna can, on the other hand, break through this "blockage" and can, if applied regularly, train the heart and circulation very effectively. It might even, as research on the Sanarium has shown, lead to a balancing effect of the blood pressure.

The German Society for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (DGPMR) is the scientific society for this specialist area. It has represented this research area since 1878 and has currently more than 500 members. It is a non-governmental organisation with the aim of encouraging and expanding the "physical medicine including balneology and medical climatology" as well as the rehabilitation medicine in research, higher education and practice.
