YURT

KLAFS ABC OF WELL-BEING

A yurt is a round tent construction covered with skins or felt. The Scythians, a nomadic Indo-European race of shepherds and farmers, used yurts as saunas. To heat the yurt, they brought in red-hot stones which had been heated in a fire outside. They also often added hemp seeds to the embers to create an intoxicating vapour. Today, yurts serve as homes for Mongolian nomad tribes.
